Motivational interviewing (MI) is patient-centered, and utilizes a guiding style to engage with patients to clarify their strengths and hopes, evoke their motivation for change and promote autonomy in decision-making.
ICSI's MI workshops provide a deeper learning opportunity to allow practice in between sessions, returning to build on new insights. The teachings include a mix of didactic presentation, videos and hands-on practice. Attendees learn how to:
- Understand context for meaningful behavior change
- Develop practice using real life situations and common encounters
- Identify strategies to listen for, elicit and promote change talk
