Program Description: This program will focus on screening, diagnosis and treatment for pre-diabetes – including the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP). Using the Screen, Counsel, Refer and Follow-up Model, the presenters will describe how to incorporate a diabetes prevention strategy into your practice, and how to access appropriate programs in your community.

- Identify National Diabetes Prevention Program sites in Minnesota and how to access them
J. Michael Gonzalez-Campoy, MD, PhD, FACE, is the Medical Director and CEO, MN Center for Obesity, Metabolism and Endocrinology (MNCOME) and past President of the MN Medical Association. As past Chair of the Diabetes Steering Committee of the MN Department of Health, he led the launch of the MN Diabetes Plan 2010 focused on community health and diabetes prevention. A member of a variety of national boards, Dr. Gonzalez-Campoy has been a strong proponent for early intervention in metabolic diseases, with a focus on the treatment of obesity and adiposopathy.
Teresa L. Pearson, MS, RN, CDE, FAADE is a diabetes educator and Director, Clinical Services at Halleland Habicht Consulting. A longstanding member of the MN Diabetes Steering Committee, along with a number of other boards of directors, Ms. Pearson is a strong proponent of the prevention and management of diabetes.
