GUIDELINE SUMMARY

This guidelines covers the following upper-respiratory conditions:

  1. Viral Upper-Respiratory Infections
  2. Acute Pharyngitis
  3. Non-Infectious Rhinitis
  4. Acute Sinusitis

It has undergone major revisions, especially with regards to Group A Strep Pharyngitis testing and treatment recommendations and Acute Sinusitis treatment recommendation.

Major revisions to recommendations:

Group A Strep: The recommendations are to use shared-decision making for testing AND treatment of Group A strep. The evidence for treating Group A strep with antibiotics is inconclusive. For more information, please click on the link to Acute Pharyngitis section or view the full guideline.
