This affordable workshop is available to all, whether or not you attend the entire Colloquium.

Important Change to ICSI Guideline Access

Starting in mid-April, most of the ICSI guidelines will be moved to the members-only area of our website. ICSI members and sponsors will need to log in to their free member website account to view and/or download guidelines and related documents. We will also make the guidelines available to other Minnesota health care organizations, by request, to ensure consistent standards of care across our systems.

This change is being made to protect our intellectual property, which in the case of ICSI's health care guidelines means the work of members and sponsors. ICSI's goal is to continue to make our guidelines freely available to those who contribute to their development through their time, expertise and financial support.

Going forward, out-of-state and non U.S.-based organizations and individuals will need to purchase PDF copies of the guidelines, with very specific terms of use, through a separate online store. The details will be available online in mid-April.

We encourage members and sponsors to check the website to ensure you have a member account and know your password. You can also request a password reset there if needed. Watch the website for all the details. If you have questions, please contact Lisa Carlson.

COMPASS Evaluation by Mathematica Policy Research Now Available

The external evaluation of COMPASS, conducted by Mathematica Policy Research, has been completed and published. The report reviews clinical outcomes, and its implementation findings are consistent with papers published by the COMPASS consortium. While the COMPASS consortium was unable to come to a conclusion about the program’s utilization effect, the Mathematica report concludes: “Our findings provide some preliminary evidence that the COMPASS program may have contributed to lowering rates of hospitalization and emergency department visits for participants who were enrolled in Medicare FFS systems.” The full report is available here.

Road to Health Care Transformation:
New Financial Models

In the near future, Minnesota payers will experiment with new payment and coverage models, focused on decreasing cost while keeping quality the same or better. CMS is also seeking to drive the market to alignment with various payment strategies, policy requirements and regulations, while still leaving open many options for payment “experiments.” Minnesota has a long history of innovation, not only in health care delivery, but also in payment methods

There are also long Spanish and short Spanish versions available. They can be used on social media, in waiting and exam rooms, in presentations, and more.
  • Choosing Wisely Provider Stories: These are stories of how five doctors and one physician assistant have used the Consumer Reports Choosing Wisely materials in their practices – and what happened.
