Isn’t it better to get natural immunity from the disease?

Both this disease and the vaccine are new. We don’t know how long protections lasts for those who get infected or those who are vaccinated. Current evidence suggests that getting the virus again (reinfection) is uncommon in the 90 days after the first infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. What we do know is that COVID-19 has caused serious illness and death to a lot of people. Vaccines are not a perfect fix but it is a safer choice than the disease. We will still need to practice precautions like wearing a mask, social distancing, and handwashing until public health officials say otherwise.
